Linda Dangoor uses calligraphy to evoke landscapes and other spaces.
Working mainly in pastels, pigments and ink, these have usually a horizon separating the earth from the sky, the top from the bottom.
Lines of hand-drawn, barely readable script appear as physical entities in these landscapes overlapping the earth or the sky. In fact, they become of the earth or the sky. Reminiscent of Chinese and Arabic calligraphy, they await unravelling.
