The Inspiration Behind
The Inspiration Behind
inspire /ɪnˈspʌɪə/ (verb)
inspire /ɪnˈspʌɪə/ (verb)
From the Latin inspirare and the French inspirer: to breath in.
To inspire is to breathe in or take into our being, something that already exists outside of ourselves; air, scent, colour, sound, shape, movement and so on.
A flower’s delicate scent may inspire the making of a new perfume, a beautiful landscape can fire our imagination propelling us to draw, paint, sculpt or take photographs in the same way as the roar of the sea can give birth to a dramatic symphony.
So, to be inspired is to be stimulated and energised by all that we take in through our senses.
The creative process, to my mind, is aroused when any one of these stimuli finds a response, a resonance deep within our core, encouraging, motivating and propelling us to act.
It is in the heat of this action that my creativity is born.
